The Manship Artists Residency is dedicated to the preservation of Starfield, an environmentally and historically significant site that has been given new life as an international, interdisciplinary artists residency.
We connect Cape Ann’s cultural heritage with a new group of innovators, writers, visual artists, scholars and scientists, providing the local and global community space dedicated to self-discovery and creative exploration.

The light, the quarries, the watchful art from the Manship family cheering me on, it wasn't connected to the quotidian world of obligations, chores and worrying. I used the interior and the grounds to write, practice my show out loud and meet with people about my work. I did so in comfort and quiet. I felt like the house was rooting for me.”
